Electrical Project | Ottawa Hospital

This new addition to the General hospital was to be powered by the double ended substation from another building. The plan was to increase the size of the two transformers and switchgear in the main complex and run two 600 volt feeders to the new building.

The Problem

By increasing the size of the existing transformers, it would also increase the fault levels in the existing building past what the panels could handle. This would mean replacing all the distribution.

Our Solution

Two loop feed liquid filled MiniSubs were installed in the existing electrical room with secondary breakers to protect the runs to the switchboard in the new building.
